At All Friends Veterinary Hospital, we believe strongly in the importance of top notch health care for your beloved animal. In the interest of offering the most comprehensive possible wellness care, we offer a huge range of services to our animal patients. Dental care is one of the most important of those services, helping ensure your pet gets to use those teeth and live healthily for many years to come.
Dental care is more important than you might think. Like people, animals are susceptible to gingivitis, which not only compromises their oral health but can lead to cancer and heart disease as well. If you want to give your pet the best possible chance of a long and healthy life, our veterinarian in East Islip can help.
We offer complete dental services, including regular checkups and cleanings, examinations to spot dental diseases in their early stages, and generally help keep your pet’s teeth in tiptop shape. Come visit our veterinarian in East Islip today to learn how your furry friend can benefit from routine dental care.
Wondering how are pet teeth cleaning from an East Islip veterinarian works? While it’s not a complicated process, there are a number of steps involved. First, our East Islip veterinarian will thoroughly examine the pet’s mouth, looking for signs of gum disease through a visual inspection. They may also recommend x-rays to determine whether any problems are lurking beneath the gum-line, such as infection or abscesses, dead teeth or gingivitis.
Afterward, we will conduct full pet teeth cleaning, including scraping off tartar both on visible surfaces and beneath the gums. Removing buildup both above and beneath the gum-line helps reduce the number of bacteria in the mouth and in turn, reduces periodontal disease. That’s because resulting polished tooth resists plaque and bacterial buildup more effectively, leading to improved oral health for life.
Many pet owners wonder about anesthesia versus anesthesia-free teeth cleaning, and it’s a good question. For the most part, we recommend your pet be under anesthesia during teeth cleaning. Not only does this result in a much more thorough clean, because the pet doesn’t have to be restrained and we can really get under the gumline, but it is significantly less traumatic for the pet.

I can not say enough about these wonderful people. Dr. Reda is the most compassionate veterinarian I have ever met. My beloved dog passed from cancer, but they were there every step of the way with any questions or concerns, even when they were oh vacation and I was totally distraught about it, they made sure to address my concerns and never made me feel like I was crazy. There should be more people like Dr. Reda and his staff in this business. I am forever grateful for all of you.
